Erik Thorsell started Success Computer Consulting in 1992 in a spare bedroom of his home. Originally serving large companies (like his former employer), Erik decided to shift his focus to small and medium-sized organizations. He knew that, if he brought his corporate experience to these clients, he’d be able to develop a service offering that really made a noticeable difference to them.
After college, Erik worked as a technology project manager at American Express Company for several years. Charged with designing, installing and supporting networks for the senior management team who were located throughout the country, Erik developed a support process that combined the use of phone, email, and remote electronic support. And, it was the capability to make faraway clients feel connected and confident in his staff's ability to help them that ultimately set the stage for SCC.
The plan has always been for SCC to stay a small business, but with big business capabilities. SCC stays small so that we can ensure that our culture remains focused on building long-term relationships with each client. We still recognize clients’ voices on the phone, and many of our client relationships are ten or fifteen years old. In that time, our competitors keep starting up and fizzling out…but our crazy dedication to friendly, professional relationships helps us to be a growing, profitable business.
Today, more than seventeen years later, Success Computer Consulting's talented team is based at its Golden Valley, MN headquarters. SCC’s clients include small and medium-sized businesses, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions. We partner with the leaders in our industry, like Microsoft and IBM, but are experienced enough to have personal long-term relationships there, too. Because of that, we get help when we need it…and when our clients do.
SCC’s people provide a foundation on which our business can grow to serve more fantastic clients without losing our human touch. We hire people who truly care about serving people (sometimes an anomaly in the technology field). We all pitch in, we all have fun, and we aren’t truly happy until we know our clients are.
