Brent joined SCC in 2004, as our first account executive (besides our owner), and has been instrumental in SCC’s growth in recent years. Having worked in technology and telecommunication since 1999 hasn’t hurt. He already understood solutions in the marketplace, and the needs of small and medium-sized organizations. Today, Brent manages our growing sales team…and he brought that management experience from his previous jobs, too.
Like anyone who works in a sales capacity, building relationships is key to Brent’s success. But in his case, the relationship is the reward. “I like to have relationships with people that go beyond their technology. I like to know about their work and their lives, and to have an opportunity for a positive impact…either for them or for me. I have clients who are mentors, clients who have become close friends, some who are just fun to be around. When we know one another, then I can truly be of service…whether it’s about technology or not. Work means so much more than just a paycheck.”
Even though he’s not an engineer, Brent is still a gadget freak. “I love being on the bleeding edge and getting to use new stuff!” Using and learning about new technology helps him to recognize the new tools that can help our clients. “Technology advances keep accelerating, and you really have to pay attention to stay on top of it. It forces me to keep an open mind, which enables me to be a better trusted advisor for my clients.”
When we asked Brent how he feels about SCC, he was quick to respond. “I like SCC because of the level of integrity we bring to the table. It feels good to work here because we do the right thing!”
